Advanced Security Technologies
Goal
This research area provides economic and technical evaluations of response force and remote weapon technology to enable the implementation of components within the physical protection system. Researchers evaluate implementation strategies for the installation of related platforms at nuclear utility sites, which meet regulatory requirements. Such platforms enable nuclear utilities to optimize and enhance their security posture.
Outcome
This research area supports the cost-effective, cooperative, private-public implementation of advanced response force capabilities with a technical basis to improve security system effectiveness at nuclear utility sites.
Planned Major Accomplishments
- Develop and implement a security system desk references (SSDRs) encompassing interim access delay, intrusion detection and video assessment, alarm communications and display, security communications, and entry control and contraband detection.
- Implement of fleet-wide risk-informed access delay timelines for both adversary and response forces.
- Facilitate the deployment of remotely operated weapon systems (ROWS) to a minimum of one site.
